Bruno Latour
Philosopher and Anthropologist, Professor and Vice-President for research at Sciences Po, Paris. As one of the leading figures in "science and technology studies" and the famous advocate of "Actor-Network-Theory", Bruno Latour contends that it is the social itself which requires explanation and therefore opens up ways of thinking beyond established dichotomies like facts and values, subjects and objects and culture and nature.
His essay "We Have Never Been Modern" (1993) can be regarded as a milestone in the philosophy of science, whereas "Politics of Nature" (2004) critically engages in the political philosophy of the environment. Being faced with global man-made catastrophes like climate change, Bruno Latour’s ideas are today more topical than ever.
